The restaurant located in the centre of Florence is on the ground floor of a truly unique location: the Byzantine Pagliazza Tower.
The unusual round tower was built around 541-544 AD by the Byzantines and is now listed in the register of historical buildings in Florence.
In the 12th century, it housed a women’s prison, hence the name “Pagliazza”, which derives from the straw (“paglia” in Italian) beds intended for female prisoners.
