The Osteria Pagliazza menu
Simple yet sophisticated dishes that reflect Florentine and Tuscan traditions and combine them with those of Campania, a tantalising combination that is the trademark of Chef Rocco De Santis.
The “Santa Elisabetta Corner” also features in the seasonal menu of the Osteria Pagliazza: an opportunity to taste the most iconic dishes of the Santa Elisabetta restaurant.
Two tasting menus are also available: a four-course fish or meat menu with the option of adding wine pairings or signature cocktails created in the adjacent Tower Bar.
The Pagliazza Tower
The restaurant located in the centre of Florence is on the ground floor of a truly unique location: the Byzantine Pagliazza Tower.
The unusual round tower was built around 541-544 AD by the Byzantines and is now listed in the register of historical buildings in Florence.
In the 12th century, it housed a women’s prison, hence the name “Pagliazza”, which derives from the straw (“paglia” in Italian) beds intended for female prisoners.
